More of Kirby

These are the Intro Pages to each of the three ESL books for EECI Educational.
Kirby is introducing the sounds that will be taught in each book (Hence the "OO" "OU" etc.) His speech bubbles are supposed to say things like- Let's Ride! etc.
Fun Fun! ;)
I'll post more soon!

Meet Kirby!

So at the beginning of the year, I got the pleasure of creating the illustrations for the last 3 books in a set of 16 educational ESL learning books. It was so fun, the main character for my books was Kirby, and his theme was travel and exploration. Whee! I did a ton of work for them, and finally am able to show it now.
I look forward to receiving my copies of the books so I can post what the art looks like with the text, etc.
But for now, here's Kirby!
(and much more to come)

Memorial Pamplet

My Grandmother died recently, and her service is coming up, so I did this design for the cover of her memorial pamphlet. She loved flowers and pink and purple.
She will be very missed!

Latest Pin-up

My oldest brother asked me to do a pin-up of his wife, Jane, for her birthday the other day. They love wild cats and things like that, so I thought she would look smokin' in a leopard print outfit :)
This was really great practice for me to work on doing someone's likeness.
Happy Birthday, Janey!

iPhone Game!

The iPhone game that I did the artwork for is out this month!!
"Games that Blow" Here is a promo video of the game- watch!
(It's a bunch of mini games that use tilting and air you blow into the mic- fun!)

10 years goes fast..

Chris and I just got back from an awesome southwest roadtrip to mark 10 years together! (more pics on his blog, too)
Saw some really cool recreated ancient fish and dinosaurs:

At each campsite we were surrounded by awesome wildlife:

Saw the Grand Canyon!

And just to embarrass Chris- here's us in the beginning. Ah, to be 15 and skinny again! (His expression in this cracks me up)

Betty Cards?

Hey everyone! It's about time I posted again, I know! ;)
So I'm thinking about selling my own cards online, and hoping to get some feedback-
Any advice on images you would want to see on cards? what works/doesn't work.. etc.
Above are photos of some card packets I made a couple months ago. (set of 8 with envelopes)
These are just to show the idea.
I'm thinking of doing some girly ones like this, then maybe some fun animal ones for kids? other thoughts?

Hey Everyone!
So my better half (manlier half?) Chris got a window of time this month to tackle his website and completely update it with a ton of new work, etc, so check it out!
He also finally started a blog, so go bug him and make sure he doesn't neglect it like I have with mine. =]
On that note, I'm finally posting some work I did back in September!
I did 2 t-shirt Illustrations for Gama-Go Inc, and had a ton of fun with them.
Gama-Go has some pretty awesome stuff on their website, so I was excited to get a chance to do a couple pieces for them.

To see them on the t-shirts, click here and here.

Go Chris!

So my beau Chris Rahn got 2 pieces into the Society of Illustrators annual!
He was interviewed by a woman from the Academy of Art (our alma mater), and the interview is on their website. Click HERE to view article.
I'm super proud of him, and glad that he's working so much- so that I can lay around and eat bon-bons all day ;) *I wish*
(and I am pressuring him to start his own blog and be a nerd with the rest of us!)

Busy, busy!

Hey everyone! I have been working super hard on illustrations for some educational books lately, I can't post anything from that job until after they're published, so instead I will post these:
These are a couple pieces that I have been working on for a book idea of mine. It's a personal project (put on hold until I have "free time" someday) about a little girl and her dog, Raymond, and all the adventures they create with their imaginations!
I hope I can turn this into a book someday..

and this one is with an unfinished background thrown in- just trying out colors, etc.. (might use the finish of this one as a mailer)
